My name is Calliope Arkilic

(pronounced kuh-lye-oh-pea ark-lidge) I am an Oakland based journalist who writes about community, food and science. Before I was a reporter, I worked in an entomology (insect) lab looking at tiny bug parts under a microscope. Currently, I am a food reporting intern with East Bay Nosh where I write stories about food in the East Bay (surprise!). I am also a student at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism where I am learning how to report and write better! I like taking photos, though I am still learning what all the buttons on my camera are for.
